Magic Spell

Tricky one, this. I have tried to Google and Yahoo this artist and the album, but to no avail. I found it on the Prog Not Frog blog (an excellent blog by the way), and as far as I can tell, the information there is just about the only information available on ‘Is There Anywhere A Gas Station’ on the whole damn internet:

(…) let we continue from Switzerland with another mysterious band, Magic Spell. Unfortunately there is no information about the band other than the back cover, one German review I found at net indicates the sound is pretty much similar to Eloy. I like the atmosphere and the psychedelic feel of the album. Any informations welcome. A hidden treasure for cosmic kraut lovers.
RateYourMusic has got the album listed with no additional info, Discogs are blank, Allmusic too. A site called FDRMusic has got an entry on the album tho, with a list of band members. Two of the members seem to be siblings - Mengia and Stefan Clavadetscher.

Magic Spell sure has it’s own style. Soft, dreamy and psychedelic space kraut, with eccentric organ grinding and great guitar solos, vocoded synths and a little weirdness all around. There’s a beatiful female choir present on a couple of songs that gives me goose bumps. The main vocals are a little thin and with a twisted accent, but it all comes together nicely in the final production. I recommend you get this.

Here’s a little taste, the excellent track ‘Cut Off’. Enjoy!
