donnie and joe emerson

cover3

i accidentally stumbled across these two funky boys via an image search on google (i can’t remember what my initial search was for, which is too bad. it was probably something very important).
i thought the cover was so groovy i had to try and find out more about this release, but that was easier said than done. most of the very limited information i found on blogs and pages was related to the album cover (can’t blame them though), and that’s about it. discogs has the album ‘dreamin’ wild’ listed. allmusic doesn’t. spotify doesn’t have it, and neither does last.fm.

the google blog search did come to some sort of rescue though. the nice thing about blogs is that, from time to time, someone uploads tracks to their blogs, or links to entire albums via sharing networks such as rapidshare. i frequently use the blog search to find obscure albums, forgotten bands or music never heard of, and i subscribe to a few blogs for this purpose.

back to the emerson brothers. to my luck i found a funk, soul, jazz & pop blog where two tracks from this funky duo were available. the track ‘good time’ told me that these guys are not just about funny album covers. the vocals struck me as most promising; it’s like listening to a young tim buckley. the music is quite straightforward 70’s pop-funk, a little gangly and immature, but still perfect for that feelgood playlist.

using my very wits i was able to extract both tracks from the blog (hint: view page source). i’ve made the track ‘good time’ available to you right here, so all i can say is: enjoy.
